Novacem

Protective finishing coat for concrete and stone.

General Features:

Novacem is a special smoothing finishing coat, particularly formulated for concrete protection and decoration, with extremely high penetration power. Novacem has an extremely high resistance against chemical and weathering agents, due to its peculiar formulation based on acrylic copolymers in water dispersion. The nature of the binder inside Novacem together with the well balanced formulation, which makes use of stable pigments and special additives, guarantees a high UV resistance and a perfectly washable and unsaponifiable film. Brush, spray gun or roller application may be easily carried out. The surface treated with Novacem is absolutely waterproof against acid rains and corrosive gases, while still preserving a high permeability rate.

Uses:

Anti-carbonation protective coat for concrete works.

Substrate Preparation:

The substrate must be perfectly dry, dust-free, with no form oil, humidity nor salt stains. Remove mechanically or with a high pressure washing peeling or highly damaged areas, dirt stains, mildew or form oil spots. Therefore protect the steel reinforcement structure and rebuild the missing volumes with appropriate no shrinkage mortars. Once the mortars used to fix the structure have matured, apply one coat of Acrilak, acrylic water based clear sealer or Edilfix T or Isolnitro, solvent based priming coats, previously diluted according to the manufacturer's instruction.

Application Procedure and Recommendation:

Dilute Novacem with 30-40% of water for the first coat and 20-25% for the second one. Apply the second coat after at least 12 hours from the first one Do not apply with rainy weather or with air or substrate temperature below 5° C. Novacem dries out completely within 6-12 hours, but this figure may vary depending on weather conditions.

Yield:

3-4 mq/lt, depending on substrate absorption.

Packaging and Shelf Life:

2,5lt cans; 5 and 15lt pails. The packaged product, if stored at temperatures between +5 and 35°C, is guaranteed for 12 months.

Specification:

Application of Novacem, smoothing protective finishing coat for concrete and stone, with high performances against weathering agents, acid rains and corrosive gases, formulated with acrylic copolymers in water dispersion and special anti UV charges, manufactured by Novacolor, Forlì. The product shall be applied in two coats, with a 12 hours interval between the two layers. Brush or roller application, according to the manufacturer's instructions. The substrate must be perfectly dry, dust-free, with no form oil, humidity nor salt stains. Remove mechanically or with a high pressure washing peeling or highly damaged areas. Then seal off the substrate with one coat of Acrilak, acrylic water based clear sealer (or Edilfix T or Isolnitro, solvent based priming coats). Exclusive of scaffolding, inclusive of flooring, frames and plant protection.
