la Calce Del Brenta® Marmorino
Marmorino contains limestone grout, i.e. open cast limestone, which reacts with air and hardens via the carbonation process. These coating produce finishes with shaded effects unlike uniform shades produced by synthetic paints. In addition the mineral nature of limestone coatings make them permeable allowing remaining moisture in the masonry to leach out. The presence of a moist backing may leach and create chromatic alterations on the surface.
Texture:Marmorino is a soft and velvet-like (imitating marble when polished with an inox trowel)
Base coat for Rasatura, "Venetian Plaster". Fine grained smooth finish coat, "Marmorino Plaster"
Application Procedure & Recommendation:
Exterior Substrate Preparation Marmorino must not be applied on surfaces painted or coated with limestone or silicate based paints. Backings must be solidly intact without dusty or crumbling areas. To even out material absorption and achieve a smooth finish, damaged plaster surfaces or surfaces with patches of plaster need to be treated with a special reinforcement material such as VIVAPIU ISOLANTE CONSOLIDANTE (REINFORCING INSULATOR). Once applied VIVAPIU ISOLANTE CONSOLIDANTE does not alter the diffusivity of successive coats of VIVAS TILE M Marmorino.
Interior Substrate Preparations:
Marmorino can be applied on pre-painted backings, providing the coating adheres firmly. This will reduce the diffusivity of limestone plaster. Gypsum backings (panels, plasterboard) must be pre-treated with VIVAPIU ISOLANTE CONSOLIDANTE (REINFORCING INSULATOR), or with VIVAPIU RASANTE MINERALE (MINERAL COATING), since limestone and gypsum may prove incompatible when placed in direct contact and thus impair adhesion. VIVASTILE M Marmorino is supplied ready for use.
Application:1. Base Coat:
Using a flat steel trowel, apply Marmorino in two successive coats waiting for the previous coat to dry completely. Ensure not to polish the final coat, polishing of intermediate coats can cause adhesion and diffusion irregularities. The number of coats required depends on how rough the backing is. Two or three coats are usually sufficient to level the original backing.2. Final Coat:
For a "Marmorino Finish" apply the final coat of material with a steel trowel, allow to partially dry then wipe and polish with the same trowel to close up open grain and polish the surface.
For a "Venetian Finish" apply at least two finish coats of Rasatura (see data sheet).
We suggest you work in temperatures ranging from 10 to 30°C (44 to 64°F).
Organic pigments must not be used, since they do not withstand limestone alkalinity.
Sealing Marmorino can increase the products life, especially on exteriors or finishes with vibrant color shades. VIVASTILE SAPONE (SOAP) or VIVAPIU IDROREPELLENTE (WATER REPELLENT) made from siloxane are recommended and should be applied after Marmorino is completely dried. Neutral soap is best suited to interior finishes, while exteriors are best sealed with VIVAPIU IDROREPELLENTE (WATER REPELLENT) made from siloxane. Both sealing agents do not alter the natural diffusivity of limestone finishes achieved with VIV ASTILE M Marmorino.
Marmorino: (1.3 to 1.5 kg/m2 ) in two coats, depending on the roughness of the substrate.
